Newly composed bits - the MC‑3+USB reviewed

The German online blog HiFi & Musik did an in-depth review of the MC‑3+ Smart Clock USB in three parts. Read the results here!

Editor Michael Kuchenbecker put the MC‑3+ Smart Clock USB, MUTEC’s exceptional Audio Re-Clocker, audiophile USB Interface & lowest Jitter Master Clock, to the test. In his conclusion he emphazises how the devices takes a step back to put the music at the front and center:

"Does this sound familiar? An inner voice telling you that this is exactly how things are supposed to sound? It's like a locking in place. At the end of the day it's not about sampling rates, bit depths, cable qualities or lengths, or the number of LEDs on the front panel. What counts is the music - the emotional experience and the capabilities of the listening chain to take a step back. MUTEC's MC‑3+ Smart Clock USB gets me closer to the core of the music and allows it to shine at its best. That translates into a huge compliment and a strong recommendation from my part. Let's not fool ourselves: the future and even the present will be digital. It's about time those bits get recomposed properly. And don't trust those marketeers, trust your own ears!"

The third installment of the three part review puts a particular focus on cascading two MC‑3+USBs in a series configuration to improve the sound quality even further:

"Cascading two MC‑3+USBs in series yields an even more real, all-encompassing and engaging sound reproduction. Subjectively it sounds louder, with increased width and refined imaging where the musicians can be located more precisely on the imaginary stage. Full of energy yet without any edginess. As they say: 'what's better' is the enemy of 'what's good'."
